The microbiome and synbiotics

Recently Professor Jan Knol was one of the experts interviewed for an article ‘How science and personalised nutrition could spur growth in synbiotic’ in the magazine ‘Just-Food’.

Jan spoke about the role of synbiotics in healthy immune system development in babies that are not breastfed and whose gut microbiota is compromised following a C-section birth or due to antibiotics treatment.

“The microbiome develops much better if you get synbiotics because you give the microbe plus its food. And this helps to get the system going.” (Quote by Prof. Jan Knol featured in the article)
