Feeding the world with purpose & care

Our mission

At Danone, our mission, “Bringing health through food to as many people as possible”, drives everything we do. With over a century of scientific research and innovation behind us we are dedicated to offering superior nutritional products that support the health and well-being of consumers and patients at every stage of life.

By combining cutting-edge science and technology with a deep understanding of local needs, cultures and habits, we aim to create healthier, more sustainable food and beverage options that benefit both people and the planet.

How it all started

Our journey began in 1919 when Isaac Carasso first crafted yogurt to help children with intestinal infections. From this defining moment, we have evolved into a global leader in nutrition, consistently guided by our founding purpose. Over the years, our mission has remained unchanged: using food as a means to improve health. Today, we carry this legacy forward through our Research & Innovation centers, developing products that meet the nutritional needs of both our consumers and patients

Société à Mission and B Corp™ certification

We are committed to balancing economic success with social and environmental progress. In 2020 Danone became the first publicly listed company to adopt the status of “Société à Mission” under France's Pacte law, embedding social, societal and environmental goals directly into its our governance fully aligning with our mission to “Bring health through food to as many people as possible”. This commitment was further reinforced in 2021 when our global research and innovation centers achieved B Corp™ certification, recognizing our positive impact on people and planet.

These two distinctions, unprecedented in our industry on a global scale, reflect our belief that business success and positive societal impact are intrinsically linked, driving both purpose and progress.

One Planet. One Health.

We believe that people's health is closely connected to the health of the planet. This belief is central to our 'One Planet. One Health' framework, which encourages everyone—from consumers to industry leaders—to be part of a food revolution. The goal is to make more sustainable food choices that benefit both individuals and the environment. Every time we eat or drink, we're making decisions that impact the world we want to live in.
