During the Nutricia Satellite Symposium at ESPGHAN, Friday May 11 2018, Nutricia hosted a breakfast satellite symposium highlighting the science behind our new concept combining prebiotics and postbiotics for healthy infants.

The title of the symposium was ‘Prebiotics and postbiotics: Next generation in infant nutrition bringing immune system through gut’, chaired by Prof. Yvan Vandenplas.

In this video of the presentation at ESPGHAN, Prof Jan Knol, Director of the Gut Biology & Microbiology Platform at Danone Research & Innovation presents Nutricia’s new innovation combining its trusted prebiotics scGOS/lcFOS (9:1) and postbiotics. Several studies were done to demonstrate the benefits. The concept is clinically shown to be safe and well-tolerated, and results in a stool consistency and stool frequency closer to human milk-fed infants. New preclinical data reveal that it impacts gut and immune functioning markers, closer to human milk-fed infants. In addition, data showed an effect of pre- and postbiotics on improved gut microbiota composition and gut barrier function.

For this unique concept of pre- and postbiotics, Nutricia has shown clinically relevant benefits for healthy infants to support the immune system through the gut, closer to human milk functionality.
