Co-creation at the heart of our innovation process

Fast prototyping and co-creation in our design kitchen

Co-creation with users is critical to deliver experiences that people will adopt. This is especially important for medical nutrition, as greater appreciation contributes to better compliance, which in turn allows the patients to receive the full nutritional benefits. We organise co-creation session in our Design Kitchen, located in Utrecht, with our product users to identify which flavours, smells, formats, and packaging deliver a superior product experience for them.

The Design Kitchen is a ‘home-like’ kitchen, including a combination of classical cookware to mimic home situations, as well as technical equipment like a 3D printer. The kitchen is suitable for fast prototyping activities that are useful when exploring early concepts and for co-creation and culinary design with healthcare professionals, chefs, users and patients. We encourage hands-on examination of new products by our key users to see if they meet their needs. For example, we ask mums to come and explore new packaging for formula milk powder, ensuring it is easy to open, to scoop and to store.

Inside our Design Kitchen, the product development teams together with the User eXperiences design managers are on a mission to explore amongst other (new) sustainable ingredient alternatives to meet tomorrow’s user nutritional and sensorial needs.
