The TripleS (Safety of Swallowing in Stroke) study investigated the effect of a xanthan/guar gum-based thickener on the safety, efficacy, and physiology of swallowing in 120 post-stroke oropharyngeal dysphagia (PSOD) patients. The results demonstrated that this specific xanthan/guar gum-based thickener increased the percentage of patients with safe swallowing in comparison to thin liquid.
