“We should move from Precision Medicine to Precision Health,”
an opening remark from the keynote speaker of the very first PhUSE single-day event in Singapore, 25 July 2018.
It is about Transformation
“I wanted to prevent disease, not just treating disease” and “I wanted to do things differently”, the keynote speaker told himself some years ago despite his successful career as a medical oncologist. Dr Steven Tucker delivered a mind-blowing speech on transforming the ‘Art of Medicine’ into the ‘Science of Health’ during the event.
Themed “Digitalisation: Transformative Advancements in Healthcare”, Precision Nutrition D-Lab of Danone Research & Innovation was a key sponsor of the event.
The topics covered from real world evidence “how does it influence clinical practice”, AI in healthcare “it is about people”, data analytics “leveraging the vast untapped data into meaningful data”, to the question “who own the data?” on the topic of data protection and privacy. It also served as the networking platform for like-minded individuals who share the same passion for digital transformation.
Application of Chatbots in Clinical Research
Instead of typing in your search words and browsing websites to get information, you can ask a chatbot and it will answer your questions, mimicking the type of conversation experience you would get when you ask an expert.
Do you know….
- People are now spending more time in messaging apps than in social media?
- Chatbots are gradually being adopted into every industry, with more than 100,000 active bots functioning on Facebook Messenger today?
The next question is: Can we use chatbots in clinical research?
Agathe Foussat, the senior digital program leader at Precision Nutrition D-Lab, Danone Research & Innovation shared her insights in this PhUSE event how chatbot technologies can be used in research not only to enhance patient engagement but also to track health parameters, follow behaviors and better understand feelings/emotions through a conversational approach.
“This is the first study in this kind performed with a chatbot and we already see a huge opportunity to measure real life impact of baby’s health conditions on parents.”
It is a big opportunity but it is not without challenges. “We have to look into the accuracy of the tool to provide relevant content for parental reassurance, its capability to engage with parents with concerns. Also, the unstructured data we need to analyse,” said Agathe Foussat.
Presentations of the event will be available here.
