Nutricia’s presence at ESPGHAN 2018

Nutricia will be actively present during this year’s ESPGHAN conference, which takes place in Geneva, Switzerland, from May 9-12 2018.

The future of allergy management: Targeting the gut with synbiotics.

Thursday May 10, Nutricia will host a Satellite Symposium. We are very honoured that prof. Hania Szajewska (P) will chair this symposium. Two renowned speakers in the field of allergy, dr. Mohamad Miqdady (UAE) and dr. Louise Michaelis (UK), will present on dysbiosis and immune development, including a promising approach for the dietary management of cow’s milk allergy with synbiotics.

A growing body of evidence suggests that an imbalance of gut microbiota, or ‘dysbiosis’, in infancy may be associated with health problems in later life such as food allergy, asthma and atopic dermatitis

In addition, Dr. Anneke Rijnierse from Danone Research & Innovation, will present clinical data on the reduction of allergy development in an at-risk population.

Prebiotics and postbiotics: Next generation in infant nutrition bringing immunity through gut.

During the Nutricia Satellite Symposium on the 2nd day of ESPGHAN, Friday the 11th, Prof. Yvan Vandenplas (B) will introduce the audience to a new concept combining prebiotics with postbiotics. Prof. Olivier Goulet (F) will elaborate on postbiotics in infant formulas, from his own experience. Two experts from Danone Research & Innovation, Dr. Bernd Stahl and Prof. Jan Knol, present on the miracle of human milk, our inspiration for this new concept. Furthermore, exciting new data from clinical trials on microbiota composition and fecal metabolites will be shared.

Postbiotics – an emerging field of Research with exciting potential to support the immune system through the gut
