During this year’s ESPGHAN conference, which takes place in Glasgow, Scotland from June 5-8 2019, Nutricia will be again actively present.
Attendees are invited to Nutricia’s Satellite Symposium, which will be organised Thursday April 6, 07:15-08:15 hrs. The title of the Satellite Symposium is ‘The Next generation of infant formula, containing prebiotics, postbiotics and HMOs to support the immune system through the gut’. During this ESPGHAN congress, Nutricia will introduce its future innovation combining the well-known mixture scGOS/lcFOS (9:1), postbiotics, and HMO structures 2’-FL (2-Fucosyllactose) and 3’-GL (3-galactosyllactose), to further mimic the structure and function of Human Milk.
The Symposium will be chaired by Prof. Hania Szajewska (Poland), who will also kick off the symposium as first speaker to highlight the critical milestones in infant formula and how close we can get to human milk. Dr. Bernd Stahl from Danone Research & Innovation (The Netherlands), will elaborate on the intense research on human milk over the last decades leading into the next generation of infant formula. The driver of adding ingredients especially beyond the mandatory composition still is human milk composition and diversity: its various structurally diverse bioactive compounds altogether ensure its unique functionality. Prof. Flavia Indrio (Italy) will present more on the exciting potential of these compounds in formula, e.g. prebiotics, postbiotics and HMOs, to support the immune system through the gut.
The combination of specific oligosaccharides and postbiotics ensures a pool of nutritional and bioactive compounds that closely reflects the complexity, diversity and functionality of human milk.
Throughout the whole conference, various scientific abstracts from Danone Research & Innovation will be presented during oral and e-poster presentations as well as poster sessions. Click here for the full scientific program.
On top of this, Nutricia will introduce at ESPGHAN the fourth e-book of the The Essential Knowledge Briefings (EKB), published by Wiley, named: The Biotics Family in early life! The book explains the impact of the biotics family: Prebiotics, Probiotics, Synbiotics and the new member Postbiotics on the infant gut and immune system.
