Sensory and consumer testing methodologies highlighted at Eurosense conference

Our Sensory & Behaviour Science Team at Danone Research & Innovation will present a poster and an oral presentation in the next edition of Eurosense 2018. Eurosense is the European Conference on Sensory and Consumer Research which is held every second year.

The presentations:

  • Oral presentation: ‘Hedonic studies on oral nutritional supplements: sip vs. full portion and malnourished vs. healthy older adults.’ The abstract discusses the challenge of recruiting patients for hedonic studies to evaluate products liking. For ease of recruitment, previous research has often included healthy older adults as a proxy for liking in older patients. This study investigates the effect of this choice, but also the difference between a single sip vs. a full portion evaluation and attributes that drive the liking and consumption ability.
  • Poster presentation: ‘Comparing triangle and tetrad testing for products with different levels of sensory fatigue.’ This abstract highlights the importance of sensory fatigue when choosing a study methodology and compares two testing methods on products with different levels of sensory fatigue.

Irene Fernandez, Senior Global Team Leader Sensory & Behaviour Science at Danone Research & Innovation: “Our sensory studies not only contribute to better compliance of patients to medical nutrition, these abstracts also show the importance high standard and credible scientific evidence. This helps us to develop meaningful and superior product experiences for our patients.”
