This paper describes a study in which it was investigated whether a provision of DHA, choline and UMP improves neurodevelopmental outcome in infants with suspected cerebral palsy. The study was run independently. Nutricia developed and provided the product given in the study.

This was the first trial of phosphatidylcholine precursor supplementation in infants with suspected CP. There was no statistically significant neurodevelopmental advantage for the treatment group versus the comparison group. However, the cognitive and language advantage of the treatment group were of clinically meaningful magnitude. Families of infants with suspected CP found a 2-year nutritional supplementation feasible.
