Danone Research & Innovation: Driving Innovation in Pediatric Nutrition at ESPGHAN 2024

The European Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition (ESPGHAN) annual conference is a cornerstone event for the pediatric nutrition community, bringing together leading researchers, clinicians, and healthcare professionals from around the world.

This year’s conference, held in Milan, Italy, showcased Danone Research & Innovation’s commitment to driving innovation and advancing the field of pediatric nutrition. Our team presented 17 research papers, demonstrating the breadth and depth of our scientific endeavors. These presentations highlighted key breakthroughs in various areas, including:

  • Infant Formula Development: Danone presented research on innovative infant formula formulations designed to mimic the structure and composition of human milk as closely as possible. This includes research on the development of formula with larger lipid droplets, mimicking the structure of human milk fat globules, and the incorporation of crucial bioactive components like HMOs.
  • Growth and Development: Danone researchers presented data on the impact of different nutritional interventions on infant growth and development, focusing on the role of specific nutrients and bioactive components in supporting optimal growth trajectories and cognitive development.
  • Gut Health and Microbiome: Our presentations explored the complex interplay between nutrition and the gut microbiome, highlighting the importance of early life gut health and the potential of nutritional interventions to modulate the infant gut microbiome for better health outcomes.

Danone’s presence at ESPGHAN 2024 was a testament to our dedication to collaborating, knowledge sharing, and advancing the science of pediatric nutrition. We are committed to working with the global research community to develop innovative solutions that support the health and well-being of children worldwide.
